The importance of the CAA for drone survey services in the UK.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is responsible for the regulation of aerial safety across the UK. This includes Airplanes, Helicopters and aerial drones (UAV).
The CAA is also responsible for determining up to date policy for the shared use of airspace. As the UK’s aviation regulator, the CAA ensures that the aviation industry in the UK meets the highest safety standards while helping to reduce the environmental impact of aviation by managing CO2 emissions. Established in 1972 as an independent aviation regulator, the CAA is financed by membership fees, charges and fines accumulated entirely through the CAA.
On top of this, the CAA also run the ATOL holiday financial protection scheme and regulate some airports in the country.
Airspace
The CAA decide on all airspace change proposals, taking into account safety, noise impact and the interference with the local community.
Drones
The CAA provide permission for operators like ourselves who want to use drones for commercial purposes. They also advise the industry on drone safety in order to reduce the chances of incidents in the skies above the UK.
