Description of works – Asbestos Roof Single Skin Overlay
While asbestos roof tiles were once a popular choice on roofs in Scotland, we now know of the extreme dangers that asbestos roofing and the asbestos fibres can cause.
Asbestos roof tiles and slates are very common in and around commercial buildings in Glasgow and Edinburgh having previously been a popular choice for roofing materials on industrial buildings.
Our Commercial Roofing team were contracted to complete the asbestos cement roofing overlay work on a commercial property in Glasgow. The existing asbestos roofing sheets had become weather damaged, allowing leaks to easily penetrate the building.
Roof Overlay is an alternative to removing the existing roof and replacing it. With Roof Overlay, we can add a new layer over the existing roof.
The work included the supply and install 680m2 of single skin 32/1000 profile plastisol roof sheet. We also fitted 100mm insulation and an Ashgrid roof support system, gutters and perimeter flashings.
